Our story
Welcome to our little flower farm! My name is Danica, and I started Entwined Flower Farm in 2024 with the support of my incredible husband.
While tending small patio planters and sidewalk gardens in my hometown Vancouver, British Columbia, I always dreamt of growing armloads of flowers on a productive farm. This dream was further fuelled by the stories of other small-scale flower farmers who were motivated to change the direction of the cut flower industry from traditional floristry practices, which produce an immense amount of waste, chemicals, and carbon emissions, and instead moving toward local, supportable agricultural methods. When my husband and I moved to the Comox Valley, British Columbia, and stumbled upon our conservative 0.42 acre property in rural Courtenay, I was absorbed with the idea of turning our neglected land into the floral oasis that I had always envisioned.
We grow all of our flowers sustainably, without tilling, and without the use of herbicides or pesticides. We opened up our farm to a slug patrol team of Welsh Harlequin ducks who keep our field free of unwanted pests and our hearts full with their comical personalities, and we recycle all of our garden waste as compost to renew and maintain the microbial life within our soil. We grow intensively on 1900 square feet of garden space, but we have also planted a diverse variety of plants on the surrounding property with hopes of feeding our native pollinators. With all of these practices, we hope to support the natural ecosystems within which we live.
I feel a deep connection between the earth and my family. I love to watch the seasons change with our children, and it is my pleasure to be able to share our seasonal blooms with our community.
